And the character and enemy design is fantastic across the board. More than horror, it nails dread, which is relatively untapped in video games. It's without doubt a handheld game, I almost regret buying it for PC, but I'm on holiday break so I have time to play it at home, I guess. I definitely recommend it for everyone, especially my fellow Switch stans. I'm still early on but this is a 9/10 on Sammy Critics. I don't want to loose just because devs thought it would be nice to make a fool of me.
If I'm prepared, I want my chances to win to be high. I hope Darkest Dungeon continues to be fair. It's difficult because it's difficult, it's not like Souls games, where developers put random traps on the map and place enemies behind doors, that's cheap and dumb. One thing that I really like about this game is how HONEST it is. This makes every boss fight very nerve wrecking.
I put so much time leveling them up and I'm kinda emotionally attached to them.
So far I have only lost two characters and they were level 0 so I didn't care at all, but if I lose one of my level 4, I honestly don't know how I'm going to react. The battles can get very difficult and you really have to plan well before going on quests, otherwise you could lose your whole party, and once they are dead, they are DEAD. What Square Enix can learn from Darkest Dungeon to be honest. Being an Etrian Odyssey fan I'm used to and hoped for more than that.īut the battle system is so good, ugh. Everything I hoped for, except the dungeon exploration, which is very light and sometimes kinda boring because there's not much gameplay involved, you basically just move forward.
